Collecting your dog:

If you collect your dog before the agreed date for collection, then we reserve the right to charge for the remainder of the booking.

No Shows:

A No-Show is the term used for a booking where you have failed to present your dog for boarding within 48 hours of the first day of your booking. In this instance you agree that the booking may be cancelled and that you will be liable in full for all boarding fees associated with that booking.

Vaccinations:

All vaccinations will have to be undertaken 14 days prior to your stay with us. Current required vaccinations include canine distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, leptospirosis, and kennel cough. All dogs will also have to have up to date flea and worming treatments. Please remember we will require a copy of your dog’s vaccination card on arrival as per our kennel licensing requirements.

Flea treatment:

All dogs must be covered by a known flea treatment, such as ‘Frontline’, ‘Stronghold’ or ‘Advantage’ before they are boarded. These products have varying lengths of effectiveness. Animals that arrive with fleas will be administered such a product and charged accordingly.

Worming treatment:

An effective Wormer, such as ‘Drontal’ or ‘Panacur’ must have been administered to any dog prior to boarding. This should be taken at least a week before coming into the kennels. Please check with your Veterinary Surgery on how long each product will protect your dog.

Medical Conditions:

If a dog has a medical condition of any sort we must be notified at the time of booking. We reserve the right to refuse admission if we have not been notified.

All reasonable efforts will be made to administer oral medication or to apply external treatments as directed of which there is no charge to the owner. However, if required, veterinary assistance may be requested at the owner’s cost without prior consultation.

Behaviour:

It is the owner’s responsibility to inform us of any behavioural traits regarding their dog such as aggression, nervousness, hyperactivity etc. prior to their stay with us. Owners will be liable for any damage inflicted upon the property or staff by their animal(s). Askham Bryan Dog School and Boarding reserves the right to turn away any animal which we feel is not suitable to be boarded. This includes bitches in season. In the event that the dog becomes too difficult in the kennels it will need to be removed and it will be the responsibility of the named contact to facilitate this. We reserve the right to refuse to board any dog that is clearly unwell, or that we consider could be dangerous to our staff.

Food:

During your stay we advise owners to provide their own food to reduce the risk of dietary issues because of these changes. However, in the event of an overstay we will do our best to provide a suitable diet based on your dog’s requirements. All fresh, dry or frozen foods provided will be suitably stored within our facilities.

Student use:

Due to the Askham Bryan Dog School and Boarding being a wider aspect of Askham Bryan College, students with us on work placement and in practical sessions will be involved in the day-to-day operation of the kennels (supervised and trained) with trained and experienced staff members.  This will also include but is not restricted to aspects of training, walking, health checking etc. Please see the attached document for further information regarding dog use and consent while boarding.

Boarding

While every effort will be made to ensure you dog’s stay is a safe and enjoyable experience, boarding with us is entirely done so at the owner’s risk. Particularly where owners have requested two dogs sharing an accommodation. In the event we feel that dogs need to be separated in the interest of an animal’s safety, no further costs will be applied. Please note: no dogs registered under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 and no hybrids registered under the Dangerous Wild Animals Act 1976 can be boarded.

If a dog is not collected within 14 days of the agreed departure date, Askham Bryan Dog School and Boarding will be authorised to sell or otherwise dispose of the dog/rehome the dog, at its discretion.

Minimum age:
